Classic Tuna Melt Sandwich (Printable)

# What you need:

→ Tuna Salad

01 - 1 can (5 oz) tuna, drained
02 - 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
03 - 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
04 - 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
05 - 1 tablespoon red onion, finely chopped
06 - 1 teaspoon lemon juice
07 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ Sandwich

08 - 4 slices sandwich bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
09 - 4 slices cheddar cheese (or Swiss)
10 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# Directions:

01 - Combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, red onion, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix thoroughly until evenly blended.
02 - Place 2 slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread the tuna salad evenly on each slice, then layer 2 slices of cheese on top. Cover with the remaining bread slices.
03 - Spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich, covering one side of every bread slice.
04 - Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat until hot.
05 - Place sandwiches buttered side down on the skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, gently pressing until the bread turns golden brown.
06 - Turn the sandwiches over and cook an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the bread is golden and cheese has melted.
07 - Remove from heat, slice each sandwich in half, and serve immediately.
